Chickasaw erased an early 8 point deficit in the first quarter that saw the Hornets knock down two 3-pointers and force the Chieftains into 5 tournovers. However, the second quarter swung the way of the Chieftains. Lead by Lashawn Williams three 3-pointers, including a halftime buzzer beater, the Chieftains outscored East Central (MS) 25-7 to take a 39-24 lead at the half. The Chieftains increased their lead to 19 points on the play of senior guard Kendell Grimes. Grimes scored a career high 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds along with 3 blocks. Williams hit a school record 8 three pointers to finish with a career high 26 points. Deante Sanders knocked down a couple of mid range jumpers in the third quarter that helped fight off the Hornets in the quarter, finishing with 8 points including 4-4 from the FT line. The Chieftains set a new school record with 12 three-pointers made in a game. The Chieftains improved to 9-1 on the season and will host Leroy December 30 at 7:30pm.
