With an area title in hand and playing host to the area tournament, the Chieftains are sure of one thing: it will compete in the sub-regional round of the 2A state playoffs. By winning the regular season title and gauranteeing a birth in the champion game (Friday, Feb. 10), Chickasaw will play for a chance to host a playoff game. If successful, it will be the first home playoff contest in school history. The regular season ended with the team being ranked #5 in 2A. Its the highest ranking for a program that’s only been around since the inaugural season in which they went 22-5 with a trip to the 1A South Regionals. Their biggest test awaits them on Friday as the favorite to win Tuesday’s 2 vs 3 match-up is area rival St. Luke’s (19-7).
